While men still make up the majority of mesothelioma cases, cases among women increased by 93% between 1993 and 2018, compared to just 47% for men.
“The percentage of women receiving mesothelioma diagnoses has never been higher. Given that the disease can take decades to develop, this growth appears to match with the period from the 1950s onwards when more women entered the labour.

Every year, more than 2,500 people in Great Britain pass away from mesothelioma.
